Inspection and maintenance of automobile parts in winter

Jan 01, 2022

1, Stop and start

When parking at night, try not to park the vehicle at the air outlet. Try not to drive or blow the accelerator immediately after the vehicle is started. Because the vehicles are made of metal, especially inside the engine cylinder, after a night of wind blowing and temperature reduction, the heat absorption characteristics and conductivity of the metal will cause frosting inside the engine, and the internal temperature will drop very low, which will not only bring great difficulties to the start of the engine, but also cause great damage to the engine itself. Therefore, try not to drive or blow the accelerator immediately after starting in winter, because the oil should be transported to all parts through the oil pump. If you drive and accelerate without good lubrication, it will certainly cause serious damage to all parts of the vehicle.

2, Wiper

If you go out in the morning and find that the wiper is stuck on the windshield by snow water, do not wash it directly with hot water, which is easy to burst the window and deform the wiper due to temperature changes. The correct method should be to turn the air conditioner on to hot air, the blowing mode is the front windshield, and wait for the wiper to turn on naturally.

3, Cooling system

In winter, regularly check whether the water tank, water pump, belt, water pipe, make-up tank and other components work normally. In case of damage or failure, it is best to repair or replace them in time. Otherwise, a bucket of antifreeze may be wasted for a small water pipe. In particular, the water temperature of some cars is too high in summer, so the repairmen remove the thermostat. Although it can solve the problem in summer, it will be the opposite in winter.

4, Warm air

If the warm air is placed for a summer, it will often fail. It is best to try whether there is hot air, whether the fan makes abnormal noise and whether the air duct is unobstructed. Sometimes the problem is that the antifreeze in the heating water pipe does not flow for a long time, and the condensation blocks the circulating pipeline. Although it does not affect the driving, it is very troublesome to maintain.

5, Antifreeze

Check whether there is liquid shortage and deterioration. If necessary, supplement or replace it in time. Antifreeze seems trivial, but it has a great impact on the car, ranging from blocking the pipeline to corroding and damaging the cylinder block. Therefore, choose and use antifreeze carefully. First, do not mix it, and second, do not use fake and shoddy products. In addition, generally speaking, the antifreeze should be changed once every two years. If the antifreeze of the vehicle has not been changed for two years or has added water by itself, the owner should go to the store for freezing point test. If it fails to meet the standard, it should be replaced immediately. Before replacement, it is best to flush the cooling system with clean water.

6, Oil

After heavy snow, the temperature drops sharply. Be sure to pay attention to whether the oil viscosity of the car meets the standard. Because the oil viscosity will increase after the temperature drops sharply, it may be greatly affected during cold start. It is difficult to start, and it is also difficult for the engine to rotate. Therefore, it is recommended that the owner replace the oil with lower viscosity. Generally, the oil in four seasons can be carried to about minus 25 degrees Celsius, so when the temperature continues to decrease, replace the oil with a higher level.

7, Windshield glass

Keeping the windshield clear is the basic condition for safe driving. Wipe the wiper regularly in winter to ensure that the windshield can be wiped clean in snowy days. If possible, replace the antifreeze windshield glass to avoid freezing in winter. In addition, some windshield de icing agent can be added to the glass water. When the windshield freezes, spray the glass water, and the ice can melt. Unlike ordinary glass water, it is more troublesome when it freezes. Glass water should be of high quality. Because the use of glass water after snow will be relatively large, it is recommended that car owners add some high-quality glass water to prevent freezing, because the aperture of the spray nozzle is relatively small, which may form blockage. Once the glass water spray nozzle is blocked, the owner should not be nervous. You can check the freezing point in the store or put the vehicle in a warm garage.

8, Body

After snow, the road is sprinkled with salt water, and the salt water splashed on the car body is very harmful to the car paint. Before winter, it is best to add a protective film to your car. The car paint coating or mirror glaze containing Teflon polymer can resist the erosion of acid rain, snow and salt water. Take precautions in advance, and you won't be afraid to damage the car paint when you travel in snowy days.

9, Chassis

In winter, the car chassis always deals directly with rain and snow, which is easy to rust. Speeding tires throw salty snow on the chassis of the car. After the snow cleared, the chassis of the car began to rust. So you'd better spend some time making a chassis armor before winter.

10, Battery

The battery is most afraid of low temperature. The capacitance of the battery in low temperature environment is much lower than that at room temperature. Therefore, before the cold season comes, the electrolyte of the battery should be supplemented and the specific gravity of the electrolyte should be adjusted. At the same time, clean the terminal of the battery and apply special grease for protection to ensure reliable startup and prolong the service life of the battery. If the vehicle is not used in the open air or cold storage for several weeks, the battery should be removed and stored in a warmer room to prevent the battery from freezing and damage.

11, Tyre

The tire rubber will become hard and relatively brittle in winter, and the friction coefficient will be reduced, so the tire pressure should not be too high, but not too low. Low external temperature, low tire pressure and serious soft tire can accelerate aging. In winter, the inclusions in the tread shall be cleaned frequently, the tires that have been repaired more than once shall be avoided as far as possible, and the tires with large wear and different patterns of different brands shall be replaced. The wear inside and outside the tire is very different. In order to ensure safety and reduce wear, the tire should be replaced regularly.

12, Car wash

The car body will be very dirty after heavy snow. It is recommended that car owners go to a professional car wash for cleaning. Especially in northern winter, snow melting agent will be sprinkled to clear the snow. If the vehicle is not cleaned in time after snow, the chemicals in the snow melting agent will cause corrosion to the car body. In addition, if you feel the vehicle shaking irregularly when driving after snow, you should immediately go to the store for inspection to see if the vehicle has any suspension parts damaged or excessive clearance.
